Morgan Frye

Doctor of Education in Professional Studies

Ocean Spring, Mississippi

Morgan is a believer in "doing the thing" ever since Dr. Alison Bory said this to her in one of her first college dance classes. Don't sit around and think about it. Just "do the thing!" Whatever the thing may be!

Morgan Frye is a 5th Grade ELA Teacher at Biloxi Upper Elementary School in Biloxi, Mississippi. She was born and raised in Stanley, North Carolina, and graduated from Davidson College in 2017 with a Bachelor's in Political Science. Morgan originally wanted to go into Education Policy, but wanted to get experience in the classroom first. She found Teach for America, and was placed in Leland, Mississippi in 2017.

Morgan taught for two years in Leland at Edna M. Scott Elementary School and decided to move with her partner Ian to Washington, D.C. for three years. She graduated with a Master's in Education from Johns Hopkins University in 2020. While in D.C., she taught at Bridges Public Charter School, where she began to develop an interest in Special Education. She taught for one year as a Special Education Teacher and found that she loved the experience. In 2022, Morgan and Ian moved to Biloxi, Mississippi, and Morgan began teaching 6th-grade ELA at Biloxi Upper Elementary School.

Morgan's Social Entrepreneurship Project focuses on developing materials for Mississippi educators to provide clarity on aspects of teaching that teachers might have questions about. As any teacher knows, there is a constant flow of paperwork to complete and data to keep organized when working with students. When working with students who have IEPs, 504s, who are English Language Learners, who are in Tier services, etc., many teachers get overwhelmed with the documentation process or paperwork. Teachers may not have received any training on how to administer these services and/or track data. These materials will act as a searchable and accessible guide for educators to be able to find the answers to their questions, see exemplars for completing confusing paperwork, and act as a guide on how to navigate these complex topics.

Fun Fact: Morgan has taught every grade level between Kindergarten and 6th Grade! (except 1st Grade!)
