VanDetrick Lockhart

Van Lockhart is working to empower students by letting them know that they have a voice and can be agents of change. He is from Inverness, MS, a small town in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Van attended Mississippi Valley State and received a degree in History, and later a Master’s in Criminal Justice. After joining Teach for America, he taught for several years in Indianola, MS. Van’s Social Entrepreneurship project is starting an SGA at his current school. His goal is to provide students with opportunities of leadership and to develop in students a sense of responsibility.
Fun fact: Van once got lost in the NYC subway system and wanted to cry.
